| | EMERALD ENNEAGRAM FOR SEATTLE Proposal for KCAC in 1997 ,
A powerful green Yag Laser will be channeled through fiber optic cable to its launching position under the water of Seattle's Volunteer Park Reservoir. The laser light will be focused at a number of anchored mirrors that are carefully aligned under the water.
Cutting through the dark water, the laser will create a 2"-10" path of green light that will trace a pattern below the surface of the reservoir. This path will change shape and luminosity as the air and water atmospheres change in the course of the hour, day or week. At times, the emerald light will pierce the night, appearing razor sharp and needle-like. Other times it may appear to have a soft halo surrounding the beam. The surface of the water will allow the piece to visually "float" above the lake, animating the pattern with flashes of green lightning-like shapes, or adding a sparkle effect as the small waves bounce the light patterns around on a choppy evening.
